Since my OBGYN was on a roll taking blood, temperatures, pictures, etc. last week I thought it would be good for her to have a look at what I call "that hard spot on my stomach". I lifted my shirt to show her and saw that familiar look come over her face {doctors make a lot of the same faces}. She was very honest in her answer "Hmmm.....I'm not really sure about that one".
Just in case I've peaked your interest.
Below is a picture of my stomach and "the hard spot" is the wrinkled area.
My lady doctor referred me to a very reputable dermatologist in town and I was looking forward to seeing what he thought about my little skin issue. I went to see the ol' doc today and he diagnosed me with Localized Scleroderma {aka Morphea}.
Notice he was kind enough to cross out Systemic Scleroderma so when I was googling my condition I didn't think it was the type that shuts down your internal organs......I appreciate that!
The most exciting part of the appointment is when he asked me to attend his monthly Dermatologist meeting and get the once over from 15 Docs from around the area. Every month they bring in the most challenging cases to collectively discuss and examine. I accepted his invitation {of course} and it confirmed that he was not 100% confident in his diagnosis {Which I already knew because he made the face}.
Is it sad that this was the highlight of my Monday???
