Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy

I love this time of year in the Pacific Northwest because we start to get windows of beautiful weather, and I know that the rainy season will soon be behind us. There's still a chill in the air but not enough to stop us from soaking in some vitamin D. It's amazing what a little sun & fresh air can do to your overall demeanor.

Harrison thrives in the freedom of our backyard and I think it just does him good to not be constricted to the four walls of our house. He loves to take his lunch on the back steps where he can take a bite, run a lap, dig a hole and come back for a handful of goldfish. Yes......his sandbox is actually my planter bed but for now it's his construction site and a place to get his hands dirty. 

Harrison's days revolve around trucks of all kinds and we often sound like Forest Gump & Bubba rambling off all the ones we know......dump truck, backhoe, bulldozer, firetruck, flat bed truck, on and on. By far his favorite is the monster truck and, thankfully, we live close enough to the country that his eyes get their fill. 

Harrison is a good subject for life style photography because he's not big on the whole "look at the camera" but he's happy to cooperate if you want to take pictures of his trucks. Rocks and dirt are totally his jam.

I love life style photography because you catch moments that are spontaneous or little things that your kids do that melt you.....and you know they will soon be a distant memory. When Harrison really wants me to do something he puts his hands together and says "puweeezzzz"......he wanted me to quit taking photos and play soccer {because I'm awesome}.

If you're wondering what sister is up to during all this glorious outside fun.....well she's stuck watching through the sliding glass door. Girl needs to be contained until the grass dries a bit, but by summer she will be up, walking and joining brother in all his glorious dirtiness. 

Here's to sunny days ahead, lunches in the yard and trucks.....lots of trucks!!

Hello Sunshine!

I don't think I've been this happy for the start of a new week in quite awhile. After a long week of little sleep, feeling really run down and missing out on all our weekly activities, I'm looking forward to getting back on schedule. Another plus to this week is a lovely forecast full of sunshine and warmer temperatures. There's nothing quite as healing as some good spring weather!

What A Week

It's Friday afternoon, H is down for a late nap and the weather is complete perfection here in Seattle. This week has been full.....with good and bad....but definitely full.

Monday was packed with the normal Monday stuff......grocery shopping, cleaning the house, laundry, etc. The weather was nice, so we had to head to the park {you learn to seize the moment in the PNW}.

Jody had his eye surgery on Tuesday and everything went really well. We did have to make an unexpected 2nd trip back to the surgical center, because of a reaction Jody had to the meds they gave him, but he was fine and recovered by the evening. 

Wednesday morning we went in for his post-op appointment and the doctor was really pleased with Jody's progress in just a day. The cataract they removed was atypical, so the doctor wasn't completely sure of how well he would actually be able to see.......I think we were both relieved by such a good report. The sweet ladies from my mid-week bible study were watching Harrison, so we got to have a nice quiet breakfast before dropping Jody off at work. 

On Thursday I loaded up H and we went to my OB appointment. I don't typically take him, but now that I'm going every 2 weeks the visits are short and he's usually pretty good. We made a quick Target run and then I proceeded to rearrange his entire room. This nesting is getting out of hand people. 

Today has been a bit more relaxed. We made a trip to Home Depot and I've been working on projects outside while Harrison plays with his trucks and harasses the dogs. 

On everyday of the this week Harrison was a pistol. This has been his M.O. this month and he's just had a tendency to lean more heavily on the surely side. His current demeanor tends to make situations a bit more tense then they really are, so I'm hoping this phase is short-lived. 

As for our weekend, it's forecast that this should be the most beautiful Easter weekend that Seattle has seen in years. We'll be celebrating the resurrection with friends, food and SUNSHINE! 

June showers bring July sunshine???

Our first day of July was overcast & rainy.
I hate to say this, with it being 100+ around most of the U-S of A, but we are ready for some sunshine up in here.
Please don't let us down July......we know summer is just dying to get a hold of some pasty white pacific northwest skin.

Discovery Park

The Pacific Northwest has really been killing it in the weather department the past few weekends. Today we reached 70+, which is crazy for April in this part of the country, there was porcelain skin peppering parks all over Seattle.
We're lucky to live close to one of those parks and went for a trek to check out the water.

We were pretty excited about Harrison's first dip in the water, but he did not share our enthusiasm.

Side note......does anyone else bruise easily?
I seem to always be sporting a hand full of bruises on my body.

Days like today make all that rain a tad bit more bearable.

Day #1 of Snowmageddon

So this is what our snowpocalypse looked like.....

it was a close one but we survived.

Thank goodness they cancelled school in all the surrounding areas because it was treacherous out there.

Northwest Snowpocalypse 2011

For the past couple days the weather folks have been predicting snow and it's finally upon us. I don't really believe that 2-4 inches of snow should be considered a SNOWPOCALYPSE, but in Oregon it's a major winter event. Honestly, I'm much less concerned about the snow and much more worried about the ice........

Oregon Drivers + Ice = Fear for my life.

Luckily, it's only suppose to stick around for a day and then it's back to rain with sun breaks. I'm officially ready for Spring!

Totally unrelated to the weather - - today marks week 16 of my pregnancy♥

Per Baby Center, I'm currently birthing an avocado

Only 4 more weeks until we officially find out if we're having a Mr. or a Miss. and only 20 more weeks until we get to meet our nugget. Hope everyone is having a lovely week.

Snow

Break out the snow chains, cancel school and become an amazingly terrible driver

......there's snow in Oregon!

The saddest part of the drive to work was seeing all the little kiddos trying to make snowmen out of a 1/4 inch of slush.

The weatherman is calling for a low of 29° tonight and a balmy 31° for my run in the morning.

This picture has nothing to do with the current weather situation but reminds me that, if only for a brief moment, Oregon does have amazing weather. Until those 2 weeks return, I'll deal with what we got.

Boooooo......Rain

It seems appropriate that on this first day of September it's grey & rainy here in the Pacific Northwest but come on.....we had like 7 weeks of summer. I'm hoping that we aren't going to skip the amazing fall weather we typically have and jump right into the depressing winter months that drag into late Spring. I might be happy to have this weather once I make my way down south at the end of the month, but for now I'm not pleased.

Seasonal Depression

I feel like such an oldster when I report on the weather but it is BEAUTIFUL outside!!!I wish it was going to stick around but no such luck......back to cloudy with a ginormous chance of rain tomorrow. Boo!! I will just have to soke up all the vitamin D i can get until then.
