A Love Like That

Good grief.....it hurts me to look at this picture.
I keep playing his fall over & over in my mind and it feels like a sucker punch to the stomach. I opened our door to go outside and, instead of the usual wait for my helping hand, H just stepped right off. He scrapped his little face on the first step and then rolled and hit his head at the bottom. Harrison, of-course, was over the whole event in about 5 minutes but all I wanted to do was hold & kiss him......he was having none of that. Oh how deeply I love that little boy and it's moments like this that confirm that intense love. It got me thinking of the Father's love for us. Oh how it must pain Him to see us hurt and to love a people so much that constantly turn their back on his love. Can you imagine how difficult that must be? When the very essence of who you are is love.

Ephesians 5:1-2 says......Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love is not cautious but extravagant. He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

My desire is to love like that.

  1. LOVE this post. Went to hit the "like" button but quickly remembered I wasn't on FB. Sad. Anyway - hope y'all are doing well. Can't wait to hear the news of Grace's arrival. So sorry we didn't get to see you when you were in V-town.
