2 Years Old!!

*I can't believe it's been over a month since I've posted anything on my blog. We've had a lot going on around here so I'm going to try and back track.*

Way back at the beginning of August, we celebrated Mr. H turning 2 whole years old. We kept his birthday really easy this year, since we did the big party for his 1st, and we were in the throws of getting our house on the market {more on that later}. No matter how low-key, birthdays aren't complete without a little cake :) I also threw in a great b-day hat to make it extra special.
*The birthday boy in all his frosting glory*
Later in the week we celebrated again with our community group from church. I picked up this adorable cake from Costco and we grilled some burgers & dogs. It was a wonderful night of fellowship and remembering what a gift Harrison is to Jody & I.
Since Bubba got so many toys from family, we decided that our gifts would lean more on the practical side. Practicality is in the eye of beholder and to Jody & I this meant some new Oregon gear. Harrison sported his new attire to the party, much to the annoyance of our friends who are Husky fans.
Much like his father, he is a huge fan of anything and everything chocolate. This came in handy since the cake was stuffed with "2lbs of mousse filling" {This is not an exaggeration but a direct quote from the cake box}.
*H is smitten with this little girl. He calls her "my Maddie"*
I'll end with this adorable 3 min video of my child eating a cupcake....his grandparents will love it!
Oh....and excuse all my chatter in the back and the 100x I say "like".....it's a problem

Happy Easter

Our Easter started out a bit rocky, thanks to our church service being "family style". I've quickly learned that family style is just a fancy word for no childcare and lots of squirmy kiddos in the service. Despite my best efforts to come prepared {milk, snacks, ipad}, H was in a particularly spicy mood and wanted nothing to do with my distractions. We didn't catch much of the sermon, because of toddler wrangling, but the music was phenomenal and they also had several baptisms. We're thinking next year we might just watch the live feed from the comfort of our couch......I can't even imagine trying to contain 2 babies!

The weather did not disappoint and was absolutely perfect. Our sweet friends from church invited us over for brisket and the fixin's for lunch. The fellas broke out the corn hole while the ladies visited and talked about babies {there were 3 pregnant mamas and a mama with a 3 week old}. I made a batch of banana pudding {Here's the recipe I used}.......and considered it a success when it was deemed "delicious" by another southerner and a bunch of Texans.

Later in the afternoon, we hopped over to Harrison's buddies house for dinner. The evening commenced with a smoked a ham, adult egg hunt, and more lawn games. It was a really nice day and we feel so lucky to have such great friends to celebrate such a special day. He has risen indeed!

We Found Santa At Cabelas

Forget the long line at Nordstrom or the faux beard at Macy's, this year we went between the fishing poles and under the stuffed bear to find Santa. Most photos I've seen, of toddlers visiting Santa, look like the child is being physically tortured by the presence of jolly ol' Saint Nick, so I wasn't sure what H's reaction would be. I braced myself for tears, but he gave this sweet man the furrowed brow and then jumped in his lap. It was definitely not a fancy operation they were running at Cabelas, I'm talking digital camera and a printer from home, but it was free.....good enough for the mantel!
With the picture out of the way, it was time make a loop around the store. We got lost in a sea of camo, looked at all the tacky home decor, walked through the aquarium and tried on lots of hats......this was my personal favorite.
We left the store with a couple new fleeces and a bag of chocolate covered pretzels.
Guess who thoroughly enjoyed those pretzels??

The perks

I'm dying over these AMAZINGLY adorable pics that my friend, Jessica, took of HD.
Jess is the talent behind Shutterfire Photography and the wife of Jody's best college buddy.
Those two came to spend some time with us, over Memorial Day weekend, and she made this all happen in 10 mins flat.
These photos sure make me yearn for a fancy camera, photography lessons and more baby bow ties.......
just can't get enough of those bow ties!

How do you spell lederhosen?

My mother-in-law brought me this gem.
Jody wore it when he was a little boy.
Guess who else will wear it?
He'll thank me one day.
Don't worry Becca, it's headed to Arizona when we are done.

I told Harrison that he didn't have to dress up for church, but he's fancy like that.

HELLO!!!

I'm still here and successfully keeping alive another human being.......winning!
First things first, I hope ya'll enjoy pictures of Harrison because he is now the star of this show.
The picture above was taken to document his first day in pants.
❤PRECIOUS❤
This week marks our first week together.....ALONE!.....just me and the kid.
Not only is it our first week alone, it is also our first week of implementing a schedule.
So far so good, with the exception of the whole crying it out at nap time. {brutal}
This week is also my first week of weight watchers and couch to 5K.
The run yesterday felt amazing and I can't wait to say ADIOS to this extra 20lbs.
I'm still working on my time management, but I'm sure it will get easier every week.
All in all I'm feeling pretty good about this whole mama thing.

Glad to be back!
