So we sold our house.....

It's a long story, but right around the time Grace joined our family it became apparent that we were busting at the seams. We had big dreams of renovating our little craftsman, but decided that living through a year of construction just wasn't going to happen. The housing market in Seattle has been wild this summer, with a 15% increase in home prices, so we decided to strike while the iron was hot. It was a painful process getting the house ready, while taking care of a husband and 2 kiddos, but it sure paid off. We got a full price offer after only 4 days on the market! Of course, there were 2 weeks of varies inspections and negotiations, but we came to an agreement and the sold sign went up on Monday. Our hope is to close on our current house on October 11th.

In the midst of selling our current house, we started searching for our future home. We were originally looking for homes in the Edmonds area, but found that most of them needed work or didn't have enough space. When we expanded our search a little further north, to Mill Creek, we landed on new construction and found exactly what we were looking for.......no renovations, more space, cul-de-sac and a better school district. It also helps that our old neighbors from Magnolia will be living across the street :) Our new place is also really close to the Snohomish River Valley, so we will have a access to lots of local fruits and veggies. So that's it.....we are thrilled and counting down the days until the big move. The cherry on top is that my mom has graciously offered to come out, and help us with the kiddos, during the move.

Loving Paternity Leave

I know there hasn't been much activity on the blog lately, but we have been busy busy around here. We just returned from our first road trip to Oregon as a family of four and had a wonderful time. Before we left on vacation, Jody worked on a big front yard fence project. I did a full post on The Craftsman. Here's the Link if you want to check it out
Just in case ya'll are wondering how our kiddos are doing, I've added a few pictures from the last few weeks.
Harrison has been spending a lot of time eating hamburgers, hanging with his dad and hoarding toys at the playground. Overall he's been a pretty adorable/fun kid with moments where the terrible two's take over his sweet spirit. He is also working on being a great big brother and loves giving his sissy lots of kisses, which melts this mama's heart.
Grace is doing what most 4wk old babies do......sleep, eat and poop {oh so much poop}. She has started to stay awake for longer stretches of the day and is working on holding her head up.

Sunshine and Snot

Harrison & I have come down with nasty colds. The little guy is handling it much better than his dear ol' mom, who could really use a heavy dose of NyQuil. I really wanted to stay quarantined to the inside of the house all day, but I managed to suck it up long enough to hang with H in the yard for a few hours.

As promised, I also worked up a post on our den and there are bunches of pictures of the refinished furniture. Click the link below to check out my handy work......

A Post About A Bunch of Random Stuff

Did anyone else have an expected weekend full of beautiful weather?
The meteorologist have been butchering the Seattle forecast lately, but I don't mind when we get blue skies instead of rain, rain and more rain. Here's 5 things that made this weekend the J-A-M!!!
  • After 2 1/2 months of no cable {we dumped Comcast back in January}, Jody decided he couldn't live any longer without his sports fix and we signed up for the Dish. They gave us a great deal, Jody doesn't have to search for illegal sports feeds on the interweb and baby boy got his Disney back.....all is right with the world. I do feel very 1990's with a satellite dish on the house, but get a load of those blue skies......Seattle in March!!

  • Taking advantage of the nice weather, Jody & I took out some planter beds and a large bush in our front yard. I did a whole post on our house blog......check it our HEREI put down the grass seed, in the front yard, this afternoon and can't wait to see what it looks like in a few weeks. We had a lot of success with seeding in the back after we put up the new fence. Here's a picture of what it looked like back in September and what it looks like now.

  • Spending time at the park was another perk of the dry weather. Our neighborhood is peppered with them and we tried a new one out with a huge slide. My fearless little boy had a blast......we went down a couple times as well :) Pure joy I tell ya!

  • I hit the 30 week mark of my pregnancy, which puts us 9 short weeks away from meeting baby Grace. I haven't mentioned this yet, but during my 20 week ultrasound they discovered that I had marginal cord insertion......which means Grace's umbilical cord is not attached in the middle of the placenta. There is a small risk that, as she gets bigger, this placement will not allow her to get enough nutrients inside my body and she will need to be delivered early. I will know more when I have another ultrasound {and stress test} at 36 weeks but my Dr. seemed hopeful that she would make it to 39 weeks. If you don't mind......I could use some prayers. Thanks!

  • We got Krispy Kreme donuts after church. This is a becoming a normal part of our Sunday afternoon......rain or shine.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Update!

After a 4 month hiatus, I've finally updated our house blog.

Sick Baby

This is what our day is consisting of......lots of cartoons, sleep and snuggling. Harrison was up a handful of times last night and was running a fever this morning. Poor baby just wanted to be held and cried when I tried to put him down for his afternoon nap. His exhaustion got the best of him and he has been snoozing on the couch for the last 3 hours. Getting up with H last night has left me pooped, especially since it wakes up Grace and she pounds around in my womb for what feels like an eternity, so I'm happy to just relax.

I've spent the better part of the morning reading old blog posts, from when I was pregnant with Harrison, and dusting the cobwebs off my little house blog. Since we're currently not doing any big projects on the house, and don't plan to for some time, I've decided that I'm going start posting recipes and any crafts/sewing projects I'm working on. Of course, this all hinges on the idea that I actually start doing the aforementioned items :) Thanks to Pinterest, I've got lots of inspiration but I'm lacking in the motivation department. We shall see.....

The House Blog

The house is already a diva and decided it didn't want to share blog space with the baby. I obliged. If you're interested in what's happening over here at our homestead just click on the picture of our house to the left.......or save this link in your reader www.thecraftsmanseattle.blogspot.com

And we'll call it done! (Finished Armoire)

A very poor quality photo of the finished armoire.
I'm super happy with how it turned out and plan to post a proper photo once it's in our new home.
Thanks to my sweet hubby for helping me with the finishing touches.
